Nicky has worked in Financial Services for most of her working life, from Eurobonds to Private Wealth, Corporate Pensions and more latterly Employee Benefits.

During this time, she has gained a wealth of experience in most sectors of the financial world. When liaising with both clients and providers, Nicky has always endeavoured to develop good professional working relationships, with support and efficiency being at the heart of what she does.

At home you will find her entertaining friends, in the garden, or, like Georgie, nosing around National Trust properties. Baking and reading are also passions.



Rory has been associated with the financial services industry since 1986, initially working for LSD Software which specialised in providing portfolio management software to Financial Advisers and Stockbrokers.

Rory is the founder of McLaren Capital and oversees the running of the business as well as the investment process. Rory is also the principal relationship manager and liaison between many clients and the team at McLaren. Prior to forming the company Rory was Managing Director of Truestone Asset Management, a private client and corporate financial services company based in the city of London.

Throughout his 15 year tenure at Truestone he designed their strategic investment process and systems, built the foundation of the employee benefits division and managed many key client relationships.

Combined with his technical knowledge and fierce sense of honesty and transparency Rory provides a formidable combination of skills for his clients at McLaren Capital.


Nicholas D Morant, Managing Director, Cormorant Partners LLP, is Board Adviser on strategy to McLaren Capital.

Nick founded and is Managing Partner of Cormorant (  He has extensive experience as both merchant / investment banker and also as an active technology entrepreneur and principal investor.  Since 1998, Nick has acted as Chairman / Director / Adviser for a number of fast growing ambitious companies, both public and private.  His particular expertise is in Fintech, Media, Mobility, SaaS and in deploying disruptive technologies.  Nick has a proven track record in growing businesses both organically and by acquisition and also of successful exits. He has extensive cross border experience:  UK / Europe, Asia and North America, particularly in Media and Technology. 

He was Founder and Chairman of which, by the time of its trade sale to Paypoint plc, had 1.6 million registered users and was executing 900,000 transactions a month.

After service as an officer in the British Army he graduated with a 2:1 (Hons) from Bristol University, a postgraduate diploma in law from City University, London and qualified as a barrister.



Simon Stodart joined the team with over 25 years’ experience in financial planning and investment management. Simon brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to McLaren team, complementing and enhancing the research, investment and financial planning areas of the business.

In his spare time Simon coaches junior and youth rugby at club, County and Academy levels and enjoys fighting a losing battle with his garden.



Georgie is our Practice Manager, who joined McLaren Capital in August 2008 with eleven years experience in financial services, gained working with providers and in a financial planning environment.

During her time in the sector Georgie has developed a substantial working knowledge of products, from employee benefits through to mortgages. An essential part of that experience is how to communicate to clients in a comprehensive, professional and transparent manner and being the key to liaising with providers and the adviser to make administration and support absolute and seamless.

Georgie currently holds FP1 and both the CFA qualifications for Life and Pension business.

Georgie has an impressive shoe collection and admits to spending rather too much time cultivating it. Other favourite pursuits include watching the odd game of cricket, nosing around National Trust properties and cooking up a storm.



Charlie joined McLaren in 2017 as an administrator and ever since has made his mark on the team. Charlie joined us from Just Retirement where he worked in the Actuarial division and prior to that he worked at Friends Life.

He is a great addition to the team and brings unique skills and character to the technical and support team. 

In his spare time Charlie is a DJ who write his own music! He travels the length and breadth of the country to DJ at weddings and big events. He also does the occasional international tour. 

Charlie holds the world record (officially) for producing a song with the most words! He beat Eminem. 



Jamie joined the technical team as Senior Paraplanner in December 2017, having gained experience working for another IFA. He graduated from University in May 2010 with an Honours degree in Accounting and Business and has six years’ industry experience. He holds the Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning and was one of the first in the industry to be awarded the newly created Certificate in Pension Transfers. He has a keen interest in all technical matters, as well as experience sitting on investment committees and providing analysis and research on investments. 

In his spare time, Jamie enjoys exploring new places, playing guitar and taking part in challenges. He recently completed the three peaks challenge, helping to raise money for brain tumour research.



Lorna is delighted to be returning to the world of investment after a career break in which she raised a family.  In her role as Executive Assistant , she will be working with Rory and Joe, drawing on her 12 years of Fund Management experience in the Europe ex UK markets at Fleming Investment Management.

Lorna is a keen gardener, resolutely managing to hold on to an 11-year record of organic methods, and loves to travel.  To relax, she likes nothing better than walking her dogs or playing her guitar.



Jéan Marshall joined the technical team as a Paraplanner in 2015 having worked previously for a different IFA. Jéan graduated from University in 2013 and now has 5 years’ experience in the industry and continues to build on this by studying towards his level 4 diploma.

Jéan is a keen sportsman and enjoys spending his weekends chasing a ball around with a stick at his local hockey club.



Wendy joined McLaren as PA to Rory and the Management Team in March 2018. She returns to formal work after a career principally in asset/software finance and raising her family. 

During this latter time Wendy worked voluntarily for SANDS, the stillbirth & neonatal death charity, coordinating a project to raise £50,000 to create a bereavement suite at Royal Surrey County Hospital. She also trained healthcare professionals to care for bereaved parents, hosted support groups, acted as a befriender and remains the Hospital Liaison Representative for Surrey Sands at Royal Surrey. In September, Wendy started a counselling skills course at Guildford College on Tuesday's. 

With one son at University, another in Year 10, and a hubby who still plays hockey, there is never a dull moment in the Cook household.



Mark Dennison heads up 'The Compliance Department', our external risk assessor and regulatory auditor. As protecting your interests is such an integral part of McLaren's business, Mark's role is to guide us on all things regulation and to test our processes to ensure our clients are always fully informed and the advice we deliver is insightful and robust.

Mark is an auditor by profession, having served with Ernst & Young and KMPG in his early career. As is the case with McLaren Capital, The Compliance Department's ethos is personal service tailored to a firm's particular needs and that's exactly what they provide, to the benefit of all our clients.



We are delighted to have Emma onboard. She carries out the essential task of providing regular valuations for our customers as well as keeping our online valuations system up to speed.

Emma has become a central member of our team and is also the brightest member of staff by a long shot...but would never admit it! She now assists Georgie in our administration needs as well as being a full time Mum.



After graduating from Edinburgh University with an MA in Politics Joe worked for a number of fund management houses in London covering a variety of front and back office roles in which he gained a thorough understanding of the ins and outs of investment management.

Joe subsequently changed career path and moved into the IFA side of the industry in 2007 and has worked as an Investment Adviser for the past 7 years.

Joe holds a variety of industry qualifications including the RDR level 4 compliant CISI PCIAM, the Investment Management Certificate, the Sii Securities Certificate as well as the Certificate in Financial Planning and Certificate in Mortgage Advice.
